The delightful small towns of Alcossebre and Las Fuentes on the Costa Azahar 'The Orange Blossom Coast' are a popular holiday destination for Spanish and French families, but at the moment is fairly unknown by other holiday-makers. Far removed from the international masses, the resort has retained it's native charm and friendly atmosphere. Alcossebre is a quiet coastal town situated just 30 minutes from busy Castellon, which is blessed with miles of beautiful sandy beaches - ideal
both for sun worshippers and for lovers of watersports including water-skiing, wind surfing and yachting.
The Alcossebre area offers plenty to do and caters for a very wide range of interests. You could simply take a stroll along one of five excellent blue-flag beaches or get energetic and play volleyball, tennis or bowls. For those who like to get wet whilst on holiday, in season, there are plenty of attractive little paddleboats and windsurfers for hire and for the more adventurous, there are jet skis and scuba diving.
Las Fuentes & Alcossebre can be found almost midway between Barcelona and Valencia. There is also the option of flying into Reus Airport giving you plenty of opportunities to catch a flight that suits you.
Local Restaurants & Shops:
There are numerous good-value, Spanish Tapas bars and Swiss and Italian restaurants on the sea front close to the Marina. The villages of both Las Fuentes and Alcossebre you will find restaurants ranging from typically Spanish to Chinese and English fare, which are all reasonably priced, as are all the friendly shops that are filled with fresh produce daily.
The Villages:
Las Fuentes, which is adjacent to Alcossebre, is situated on the beautiful "Costa del Azahar". This area is well renowned for its orange and almond groves. In January & February the almond trees start to come into blossom and in May it's "Orange Blossom Time".
To the North you will find the picturesque towns of Benicarlo, Peniscola, and Vinaros. Peniccola is a beautiful town full of history as they filmed "El Cid" there amongst the castle walls and on the white beaches. Vinaros is renowned for its local speciality seafood dishes and each year in February they have a carnival which is on a par with the" Mardi Gras" in Rio, really well worth a visit at that time of year.
A one-hour drive further North is Port Aventura, which has a full sized Universal Theme Park and a Water Slide Park.
To the South is Benicassim, which has a large Water World Park (20 minutes drive) and Castellon, which is wonderful for shopping.
Golf Courses
Alcossebre boasts two magnificent golf courses. A third is currently under construction.
