Alicante Airport in English AENA
Almeria is in the southeast corner of Spain. It is situated in the region of Andalusia and the region it is set in is Almeria (it is the capital of that region.) The city of Almeria is located at the foot of a mountain range and is crowned by the magnificent Akazaba, an Arab fortress that was built by the Calph of Cordoba. The coast of almeria is called the Costa de Almeria and it has around 190 kilometres (118 miles) of coatline. The region of Almeria has an average inhabitancy of 425,000 people and the actual city itself of Almeria has the inhabitancy of around 145,000 people. The province of Almeria has an area of 8774 kilometres square (5451 square miles). Almeria has its own airport however this is more of an internal airport but there are quite a few international airports nearby (Murcia, Granada and Malaga). Almeria is a small but modern city and often is thought of as a relaxing place to go for short holiday breaks. The temperature in Almeria is very pleasant ranging from the average temperature in the winter months being around 12 degrees Celsius and the average temperature in the summer months being around 26 degrees Celsius, also because the city of Almeria is near the coast it is generally not very humid making it a lovely place to walk around and enjoy the history. |

| Welcome to Almería |
| In so polar a place as the Province of Almería in Spain, one finds extremes of desolation and life. As much as there are barren wastelands, the idyllic coastline so named Costa Almería couldn’t more jovially define the throbbing life of the Province of Almería.
The said Spanish province prides itself in nearly 200 miles (322 km)
worth of uneven though scenic coastline, a reputation of which is one
of the finest. The coast, which lies southeast of the Iberian Peninsula
on the Mediterranean Sea, is a consistent crowd-drawer, what with
attractive packages that lure tourists to the plush developed resorts
near the main towns. These tourist resorts apparently are equipped with
complete facilities of any modern resort catering to the active package
holiday market. Unspoilt and loveable, Costa Almería is above all reputed for its plenty of idyllic natural attractions. Nature-lovers may in wanton liberty explore the unruffled fishing villages dotting the coast, as well as the invigorating stretch of the fine sandy beaches. There are even intimate coves just right as getaways for nudists. |
This exclusive area, entering the region of Andalucia, is one of the last remaining unspoilt coastal areas in the whole of Spain. The province is steeped in history which can be dated back to Phoenician times and beyond, this history being reflected in its picturesque towns and villages.
Almeria province is Europe’s sunniest and driest region with more than 330 days of sunshine a year, an average temperature of 20c, and where the constant sea breezes temper the heat of the summer. It is an ideal location to just relax and enjoy nature, or maybe pursue the many and varied leisure activities available all year round. The area boasts many beautiful beaches holding the EEC blue flag award, plus marinas, nature reserves and picnic spots.
Lively in summer but shielded from the excesses of mass tourism, this is a civilised yet unpretentious place to live, providing an ideal balance between relaxation and sports, activity and peace, security and freedom.
A major investment in infrastructure has been undertaken in Almeria
over the past decade. It is now served by the new `Mediterranean
Motorway` connecting directly, northwards to the French motorway
network and southwards along the Costa del Sol towards Gibraltar.
The region now offers quality facilities for all to enjoy. Three new eighteen hole golf courses have been added to the existing established courses, other sport facilities include tennis, green bowls, horse riding and all types of water sports.
Come to Almeria, step back in time enjoy a quality of life many felt lost forever.
